Is there someone who can explain what this is?

I just discovered this object beneath the kitchen cabinet in the 1950s-era house I recently moved into. Google Image Search in reverse didn’t help, so I have no idea what it is. It is completely motionless. There seems to be a full serrated blade on the right side. I need help, I’m really confused.

It serves as a jar opener. Turn the jar lid after inserting it into the v. People with arthritis or weak grip strength can benefit from it.

Man. When I first acquired my house, I had a jar opener similar to that one hidden beneath a cupboard. It seemed ridiculous to me. However, when I had to remove a sticky lid, I discovered how amazing it is. Able to grasp the jar with both hands and exert significant force on it.
