Kitchen Trash Pullout Replacement?

In this situation, what would you do? We may repurpose this; we have the ideal location for one of those simplehuman trash/recycling bins. Although our pantry is very large now, there is enough for more dishes, glasses, pots, and pans on our shelves. Would you install a shelf instead of the sliding drawer entirely, or use another type of drawer?

For the context of the room, this is an island. It pulls out straight in the direction of the wall containing the refrigerator and stove. Pictured from the vicinity of the sink.

While I’m remodeling, I’m considering purchasing one of them. I would like to know why you feel the need to relocate from the trash pullout. Am I acquiring one and making a huge mistake?

@Dacosta Likewise, but we’re getting one. I don’t see why you would want a garbage and recycling area to be visible unless you didn’t have enough cabinet space for the total amount of storage you need. However, keeping the trashcan hidden makes your room look better and free up floor space, so it’s a win-win situation.

@Eminem We would prefer to use the cabinet space for other items that go in cabinets, and we have a fantastic place for one with a lid. You’re not doing anything incorrectly; it’s simply not my taste.

@Cabby When removing the garbage can, be sure to use covered containers to prevent closet odors.

@Gordon Garbage pullouts are still a good way to hide rubbish. The nicest update I recently completed has soft close slides and an Ikea Utrusta push open servo for pushing the drawer out when I need to retrieve the trash while my hands are unclean (I just hit the front of the drawer with my knee to do this). It looks like the one shown by the original poster. The garbage drawer can be opened normally as well.

Like the Ikea Utrusta servo, Blum also produces the tip-on blumotion, a push-open, soft-close slide that doesn’t require a power outlet. However, if the garbage can is filled to the brim, I think the servo will be able to handle the push-open feature better.

Are you a frequent baker? Excellent pull-outs for mixers that swing out and up have been seen. As an alternative, I have observed cutting boards that slide out and fit directly into the bin below.

@Jason I don’t like that the mixer is in the closet because we don’t bake much, but we have definitely discussed getting some form of vertical storage for the chopping boards. Cutting boards, additional baking sheets, possibly a few XXL pan lids, etc.

You could repurpose the door by using putty in the existing pull holes and a touch-up pen. After that, shift the pull to the side and add hinges. or Obtain an alternative pull-out that better meets your requirements. Most of them are manufactured by Rev-a-Shelf and are rather modular.

This exact one, which is between the dishwasher and the sink, was just installed. Really pleased with it.

Include the pull-out. There is nothing more annoying than when someone reaches into the cabinet to discard trash. Verify that it has a cover when it is closed.

@Keller What apology? Could you elaborate a little bit?

@Cabby I apologize for misinterpreting the first post.

I recently added this, and I adore it so much that I can’t see removing it. But we all know what we enjoy. Maybe I would visit the Revashelf website and get a pull-out shelf. You could store all of your dishes and silverware here.
