Loading pattern of the dishwasher

I recently bought a new Samsung dishwasher, and it includes an odd third rack for cutlery. To make room for extra bowls, I took the utensil holder off of the bottom rack. Just wondering if I’m loading the dishwasher properly. I appreciate you taking your time going through the photos.

@Kristen Thank you so much.

It’s loaded appropriately by you. Some could counter that you could reorganize it to make greater use of the available space, but that is a minor point. What counts is whether or whether it works for you.

There’s always room for one more thing.

B+. (I’ve seen much worse.)

Upper rack: Items should be placed between the tines, not over them. I can see that some have been bent already. To allow the glasses on the left side of the upper rack to fit between the tines and stand up straighter, you might need to lower that rack.

Lower rack: Looks fine except for the pot, which is wedged partially between the tines.

Third rack (aka the silverware tray): The bowl of the spoon shouldn’t be so far to the left; it should be resting in that little trough. Move the spoon as far right as you can so that the handle is between two uprights like the butter knives next to it. (If you have spoons with fat handles, reverse the orientation.)

As long as you follow the manufacturer’s guidelines, you should be fine. I was amazed at what I learned when I actually bothered to read the literature, both the user manual and the installation instructions, that came with my dishwasher after several years of owning it.
